Who We Are
Built by young people, for young people
-
Most young people leave school without a clear understanding of how New Zealand’s democracy works, or how to take part in it.
In an election year, that matters more than ever.
Democracy Lab was created to close that gap, making civics simple, relevant, and accessible for every student.
-
We deliver engaging, non-partisan sessions in schools that break down how democracy works, and help students feel confident about their first vote.
Our focus is simple:
understanding → confidence → action -
We are strictly non-partisan.
We don’t tell students what to think or who to vote for. Instead, we give them the tools to understand the system and make their own informed decisions.
Our sessions are designed to be clear, practical, and relevant to real life.
-
Our goal is to build a generation of confident, informed voters across Aotearoa.
Starting in schools, we aim to grow Democracy Lab into a nationwide movement that strengthens participation in our democracy.
